About Me

Hello, I’m Brittani Andrews, a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I earned my bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Missouri in 2014, followed by a master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Avila University in 2018. In August 2022, I also received a certification as a self-esteem life coach.

My experience spans various settings, including private practices, inpatient and outpatient substance abuse treatment programs, residential facilities, and acute inpatient psychiatric hospitals, working with individuals aged 4 and older. During this time, I've honed my skills in integrating individual, group, and family therapy services to provide the best possible treatment for my clients. I've also had the privilege of working with professional athletes, which has further expanded my understanding of the unique challenges faced by adolescents, couples, families, and athletes.

Throughout my career, I've encountered frequently asked questions about behavior such as, "Why is this happening to me?", "Is this normal?", "What is preventing me from moving forward?", and "How can I overcome my abuse or trauma?" These questions highlight the importance of taking accountability for our own mental health and understanding the root causes of our struggles.

Life can often feel overwhelming, making it hard to focus on the positives. Feeling stressed and overwhelmed can lead to unhealthy coping mechanisms that provide only temporary relief. Uncontrollable and unfortunate experiences can cause additional stress and impulsiveness. However, learning to manage current stressors in a healthier way can lead to lifelong healing. While we all yearn for connection and understanding, true healing starts with being honest with ourselves.

As your therapist, my goal is to create a non-judgmental environment where you can be your true, authentic self. I aim to help you build self-confidence, create and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships, and establish safe and functional boundaries. Additionally, I am here to support you in processing trauma and managing depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. I understand that everyone's life circumstances are unique, and I believe in applying the treatment modalities that best fit each person’s individual needs.
